Bradford based Gospel Choir Voices & Us take to the stage at Kala Sangam on Saturday 27 April for an evening of music and song to raise money for Zimbabwe based charity, The Porridge Project.
Combining great vocal talent with innovation and creativity, Voices & Us offer moving and uplifting performances of original songs and remixed classics. Featuring some very special collaborations, the Gospel Expo will be an evening of stunning gospel music for fans and newcomers to the genre.
But Voices & US are not just about the music; they use their passion and performances to raise money for good causes. Their last performance at Kala Sangam raised nearly £500 to buy sleeping bags and toiletries for Bradford Night Stop. This time they are looking more internationally, and raising money for The Porridge Project. The Porridge Project is based in Dongamuzi Zimbabwe and provides nutritious breakfasts for otherwise hungry school children.
Alex Croft, Creative Director of Kala Sangam said, “Each season at Kala Sangam we look to bring some of the most exciting acts in a whole range of musical styles – from Rap to Qawaali to Jazz – to Bradford. This season our audiences can also experience the positive energy of Gospel music for the first time. As well as it being a great night out, the event will also be raising money for a really worthy cause so it’s the ultimate feel-good experience!”
Kala Sangam – Bradford’s intercultural Arts Centre – is the perfect setting for audiences new to Gospel music. This spring, Kala Sangam introduced a new ‘Pay What You Decide’ pricing structure for most events. Under the new system, tickets can be booked in advance as usual but audiences don’t pay until they have seen the show. This allows people to not only pay what they can afford, but also decide on a price based on their experiences of a show.
Tickets for the Gospel Expo are now on sale, to book visit www.kalasangam.org or call the Box Office on 01274 303340.
