Senior Assessor – Bradford – £30 – £32K

Our client is looking to recruit a Senior Assessor to join their team in Bradford, ideally from a Motor Vehicle/LGV or Mechanical Engineering background. The Senior Assessor will be instrumental in delivering from induction to completion and will complete 1:1’s with assessors, support their assessors where apprentices are falling behind and/or are at risk of withdrawal. Working with the assessor, apprentice and employer to retain and support the interventions required to progress towards achievement and where the risk is employer related work with the business development team to quickly identity potential new employers to support apprentices achieve and maximise apprenticeship retention and progression of further apprentices.

Role Responsibilities:


* Work with the Team Leader to plan caseloads of Assessors to support recruitment and achieve outcome targets

* Maintain a caseload of 0.5 teaching commitment across subject area, with a specific focus on supporting apprentices identified at risk.

* Plan and coordinate teams CPD, maintain staff matrix to include (3 days per year) industry days as a minimum

* Coordinate vocational inductions, providing apprentices with a comprehensive induction that details the skills needed to be successful in their vocational area

Finance & Funding:

* Monitor and review timely completion of reviews to meet the 95% on time and for compliance, plan for any improvements or additional training where content is insufficient, monitor the completion and content of the 20% OTJ and plan for improvements where needed

* Support the reduction of out of funding apprentices under 10% by providing assessors and trainers with support to overcome challenges with relevant interventions and actions to resolve problems

* Monitor the completion of timely reviews by assessor and action any compliance concerns

Information & Data:

* Analyses and ensures all relevant management information relating to Apprentices is used to lead performance and meet operational targets

* Monitor and review EQA reports to inform improvements and or required actions

* Drives the implementation of the LMS system, acting as a trainer of the system and working with Assessors to ensure system effectively supports apprentices

Main duties

* Plans and completes monthly 1.1 with assessors

* Monitor the booking of FS with assessors minimum 1 aim completed in first 6 months of programme

* Supports the development and monitoring of training and delivery plans for apprenticeship delivery

* Supports and coordinates Inductions across operational teams

* Respond swiftly to any reports of apprentices who are falling behind quickly and agree detailed action plans with the apprentice and employer to provide the require support to promote achievement

* Support the recruitment process by completing initial assessment duties and the identification of potential new starts as per internal rota system

* To be part of a team carrying out initial assessment and apprentice interviews and actively participate in attendance at school’s events, open events, recruitment events etc.

* Requirement to attend Open Days, Open Evenings, Enrolment and other activities (some of which will be evenings and weekends)

* Works in partnership with curriculum colleagues to develop remedial interventions when apprenticeship performance is not on track

* Ensures the health, safety and wellbeing of all employees in the department

These duties may be amended from time to time by the line manager in consultation with the post holder

Education and Training


* GCSE/ O level in English and Maths Grade A*- C

* Assessor Award


* Management Level 3 or working towards

* IQA Award or willingness to work towards

* Teaching qualification
