The Wool City Derby Returns

Bradford’s two most prominent football teams will go head to head in a pre-season friendly at the Horsfall Stadium to fight for the Tom Banks Memorial Trophy.

Bradford Park Avenue, who play in the Vanarama National League North will play host to their Sky Bet League One neighbours, Bradford City on Wednesday the 27th of July for a 7.30pm kick off at the Horsfall Stadium.

The fixture, known as the “Wool City Derby” thanks to the Bradford’s long history at the heart of the UK’s wool industry, was last played in 2014. City beat their hosts to take home the trophy thanks to a hat-trick from trialist Achille Campion in their 3-0 victory at the Horsfall Stadium. The last time Bradford Park Avenue won the derby was in 2012 when the Avenue defeated City 3-1  with goals from O’Brien, James and Deacey, with City’s only reply coming by way of a Thompson penalty.

Before the Avenue was voted out of the league in 1970, the two sides had played a total of 56 competitive league and cup fixtures with Avenue just edging the stats with one more victory over their neighbours. to see the full list of games and results dating back to 1912, click here:{212990667ea1e73c32381faddd1ba8055f155bc80a349860416c9a7bd92836eb}20Park{212990667ea1e73c32381faddd1ba8055f155bc80a349860416c9a7bd92836eb}20Avenue/
